Dr. Carey Snyder is in her 31st year in the athletic department at East Stroudsburg University during the 2017-18 academic year.
She has served as associate athletic director the past 30 years. In addition to other responsibilities, she processes student-athlete eligibility, serves as the NCAA compliance officer, and maintains the budget for the 20-sport intercollegiate athletic program.
Snyder prepares all athletic department comprehensive reports for the federal government and the NCAA. For 17 years, prior to 2005, she also coordinated event management for over 400 athletic contests annually. She manages the athletic operating budget, away contests, team travel, contracts and non-session arrangements.
At the national level, Snyder serves on the NCAA Division II Committee on Infractions. She was previously a member of the NCAA Division II Softball Committee.
Snyder was the founder and chair of the Women’s Athletic Scholarship Golf Classic that raised over $150,000 in scholarships for women student-athletes. She has organized a National Girls and Women in Sports Day event for girls in the Stroudsburg community, is a member of the Intercollegiate Athletic Committee and the Gender Equity Planning Committee, and has also served on the University Faculty Senate.
Prior to ESU, Snyder had a highly successful career as a volleyball and softball coach at California Lutheran University in Thousand Oaks, California.
Dr. Snyder earned her B.S. from Springfield College in Physical Education and her Master’s degree and Ph.D. in Athletic Administration from the University of Southern California. She is a native of Delray Beach, Florida.
