East Stroudsburg University is proud to welcome Raymond Simmons IV as its new linebackers coach, bringing leadership, grit, and firsthand experience to the Warriors’ sideline. A former defensive anchor for ESU, Simmons transitions into coaching after a decorated collegiate career that showcased his football IQ, toughness, and relentless work ethic.
Simmons capped off his playing days with a stellar 2024 season, earning PSAC Football Eastern Division All-Conference Defensive Second Team honors. He led the Warriors with 105 total tackles, including 8.0 tackles for loss and 2.0 sacks, while forcing two fumbles and breaking up four passes across 12 games. His career-high 14 tackles against Kutztown and 13 stops at California (Pa.) underscored his ability to rise in big moments.
Over his four-year career, Simmons compiled 167 total tackles, 13.5 tackles for loss, and two interceptions, consistently setting the tone for the defense with his physicality and poise. His senior campaign in 2023 included 49 tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss, two interceptions, and multiple fumble recoveries—further cementing his reputation as a playmaker and leader.
A former Defensive MVP and 1st Team All-Conference selection in high school, Simmons majored in Exercise Science and brings both academic and athletic excellence to his new role. His journey from student-athlete to coach reflects a deep commitment to the ESU program and a passion for mentoring the next generation of Warriors.
With Simmons now guiding the linebacking corps, ESU gains not just a coach—but a proven leader who knows what it takes to succeed on and off the field.
