Fran McMenamin

Fran McMenamin just concluded his third season as an assistant football coach for the East Stroudsburg University football program in 2019. He joined the staff in January 2017, right after a four-year playing career for the Warriors.

In January 2019, McMenamin was appointed to lead ESU’s running backs and fullbacks under new Head Football Coach, Jimmy Terwilliger. In McMenamin’s first season, he helped guide redshirt junior Devante Robinson to 2nd Team All-PSAC East honors as a running back. Prior to being named running backs coach, McMenamin assisted with ESU’s offensive line during the 2017 and 2018 seasons. During those two years, he helped coach Michael Fleming, a four-time All-PSAC East offensive lineman and Don Hansen Football Gazette 2nd Team All-Region as a senior.

As a player, McMenamin was a three-year starter on the offensive line. He helped pave the way for ESU’s career rushing leader Robert Healy (3,993 yards all-time, program-best 1,163 yards and 18 touchdowns in 2016) and also helped protect quarterback standout, Matt Soltes, who ranks second in team history in career passing yards (12,544) and touchdowns (126).

McMenamin was a national finalist for the 2016 Armed Forces Merit Award after serving two tours of duty in Afghanistan prior to enrolling at ESU. A 2007 graduate of Father Judge High School in Philadelphia, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 2008. McMenamin received the Navy/Marine Corps Achievement Medal in 2012 for exceptional service and leadership while serving the 2nd MAW (FWD) in Helmand Province, Afghanistan.

Off the field at ESU, McMenamin was a 2017 selection for the NFF Hampshire Honor Society, a program which recognizes Scholar-Athletes who excel both on the field and in the classroom. He was also one of just 200 student-athletes nationally selected to participate in the 2016 NCAA Career in Sports Forum, held in Indianapolis.

McMenamin graduated from ESU in December 2016 with a bachelor’s degrees in sport management and communication studies. He currently resides in East Stroudsburg.
