Zach Sarginger, a three-year starter on ESU’s offensive line from 2009-11, is in his second year as running backs coach for the 2017 season.
In 2016, senior running back Robert Healy set ESU single-season records for rushing yards (1,163) and touchdowns (18) and was named first team All-PSAC East and first team All-Region on both the D2CCA and Football Gazette squads. Senior fullback Sean Roth was also named to the Football Gazette All-Region team, giving ESU a pair of first team selections in the offensive backfield.
Sarginger was previously a volunteer assistant coach for the Warriors from 2012 through 2015, working primarily with the running backs following a stint with the offensive line under his position coach, Mike Santella.
Sarginger started 33 games in his career for the Warriors, including starts at four of the five positions on the offensive line. He started all 11 games at right guard in 2009, started five games at right tackle and six at left tackle in 2010 and nine games at left tackle and two at left guard in 2011.
He graduated from ESU in 2015 with a bachelor’s degree in Economics and a minor in Mathematics. He was named to the Academic All-District team in 2009.
