Brian Ernst enters his second season as an assistant coach for ESU’s baseball program in 2018-19. A four-year starter for the Warriors from 2010-13, he was the only player in PSAC history with 200 career strikeouts (201) and hits (201) at the conclusion of his playing career.

Ernst’s senior season was highlighted by a memorable postseason performance, as he pitched the Warriors to their first PSAC title since 1971 after tossing 8.0 innings with no earned runs on two days’ rest in a 7-1 win over West Chester. Ernst was honored as PSAC tournament MVP following the outing.

A three-time All-PSAC East selection at utility and a two-time All-Region performer, Ernst had a .331/.423/.457 career batting line with nine homers, 44 doubles and 114 RBIs. On the mount, he went 16-7 with a 4.07 earned-run average across 172.2 innings (5-2, 2.70 ERA, 88 strikeouts in 66.2 innings as a senior).

Ernst remains ranked sixth in program history in hits, tied for second in doubles, tied for seventh in RBIs, second in strikeout-to-walk ratio (10.5) and fourth in overall strikeouts. At the conclusion of his collegiate career, he pitched for five years in the independent leagues, going 36-25 with a 4.11 ERA and 372 strikeouts across 464.0 innings of work.
