KUTZTOWN - Junior Roshane Ellison scored twice in the first half to help the Warriors open a 4-0 lead, then added his third goal of the game with five minutes left to lead East Stroudsburg University to a 6-0 win on Wednesday at Kutztown.
Sophomore Jason Rudder scored first for ESU 7:20 into the match on an assist from senior Dennis Maldonado, and Ellison followed with a pair of goals in the 15th and 21st minutes to extend the lead to 3-0. The second goal was assisted by junior Jason Shegda, who was playing in his first match since suffering an injury on Sept. 22 in a 3-1 win over Lock Haven.
An own goal in the 35th minute put ESU ahead 4-0 at halftime, and Shane McFarlane (69th minute) and Ellison (86th) scored second-half goals for the Warriors.
Ellison entered the game with four goals and now ranks second on the team with seven goals this season. He was a second team All-PSAC selection as a sophomore and now has 15 career goals.
Sophomores Larry Pokrywa and Chris Duggan both played a half in goal and made two saves each. ESU outshot Kutztown 22-12 and held a 9-3 advantage in corner kicks.
The win is the 11th straight for the Warriors, who improve to 14-1 overall and 11-1 in the PSAC. Kutztown falls to 1-14-1 overall and 0-13 in the conference.
ESU will host Shippensburg on "Super Soccer Saturday" at 1 p.m. A free soccer clinic will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. with players from both the men's and women's soccer teams helping youth soccer players improve their skills.
