EAST STROUDSBURG - East Stroudsburg University scored three second-half goals to pull away from a 1-1 tie at halftime in a 4-1 victory over Lincoln University in non-conference men's soccer on Tuesday night at Eiler-Martin Stadium.
ESU (12-1), ranked No. 9 in this week's NSCAA/adidas poll, went ahead 1-0 on the seventh goal of the season by junior forward Kevin Holmes in the 20th minute. Lincoln responded with a goal by Peter Jarbo eight minutes later, and the score remained deadlocked at 1-1 at intermission.
Sophomore Danny Drago scored off an assist from senior Jeff Herber 11:32 into the second half to give the Warriors the lead, and sophomores Shane McFarlane and J.J. DiFerdinando also added second-half goals for ESU.
ESU held a 30-4 advantage in shots for the match, including a 16-1 edge in the second half. Sophomore goalkeeper Larry Pokrywa made three saves for the Warriors, while Andre Wilkinson had eight saves as the starting goalkeeper for Lincoln.
The Warriors will travel to California for PSAC action on Saturday at 12 p.m. as they look to avenge their only loss of the season, a 2-1 setback on Sept. 1.
