ESU Men's Soccer Avenges Only Loss vs. California

CALIFORNIA - Junior Kevin Holmes scored the only goal of the match less than two minutes into the second half to propel ESU to a 1-0 victory at California on Saturday afternoon.

The No. 9-ranked Warriors have won 10 in a row since suffering their only loss of the season to California on Sept. 1. The win improves ESU to 13-1 on the season and 10-1 in conference while California drops to 7-4-3 and 5-4-2 in the PSAC.

Sophomores Danny Drago and Toric Robinson assisted on the goal by Holmes, who leads ESU with eight goals this season.

Sophomore Larry Pokrywa had five saves in the net for ESU while freshman Charlie Dagnel had the only saves for the Vulcans in relief of starter Derek Yobbi. California out shot the Warriors 8-6, and ESU owned a 7-4 advantage in corner kicks

ESU will travel to Kutztown on Tuesday as part of a PSAC East doubleheader. Kick-off is scheduled for 4 p.m., following the women's game at 2 p.m.
