SLIPPERY ROCK - East Stroudsburg University erupted for three goals in a span of 7:12 in the second half and won its PSAC men's soccer opener 3-1 on Sunday afternoon at Slippery Rock.
For the second straight match, the Warriors were held scoreless for the first 60 minutes before scoring multiple goals within a couple of minutes. Sophomore back Danny Drago scored off a corner kick to break the deadlock at the 61:30 mark, with the assist coming from sophomore midfielder Toric Robinson.
Junior Roshane Ellison scored his first goal of the season just over three minutes later to give ESU a 2-0 lead. Robinson added his second assist of the day on the second goal of the year by Jason Shegda, who opened the scoring in ESU's 2-0 win over NYIT on Thursday.
Sophomore Larry Pokrywa was rarely tested, making two saves in 78:14 before giving way to Chris Duggan. Pokrywa extended his scoreless minutes streak to 459:31, just over five 90-minute matches.
Ed Mocarsky found the net to put the Rock on the board in the 86th minute.
ESU will host Bloomsburg on Wednesday night at 7:30 p.m. in the first night game in Eiler-Martin Stadium history. The women's game will begin at 5 p.m. with a ceremony to celebrate the installation of lights at the stadium scheduled for between games.
