EAST STROUDSBURG - No. 11 East Stroudsburg University won its eighth straight match and improved to 9-1 in the PSAC with a 3-1 victory over Slippery Rock on Sunday afternoon at Eiler-Martin Stadium.
The Warriors (11-1 overall) were forced to overcome an early deficit for the first time all season, as Slippery Rock (6-4-2, 5-3-2) struck first on a goal by Nick Christy in the 31st minute.
Senior Dennis Maldonado put ESU on the board with 1:16 left before the half, scoring off an assist from Shane McFarlane to tie the game at 1-1.
Sophomore Jason Rudder scored what proved to be the game-winning goal in the 58th minute, and assisted on the first goal of the year by J.J. DiFerdinando in the 75th minute to secure the victory.
ESU has won eight straight contests since suffering its lone loss of the season on Sept. 1 vs. California. The Warriors will host Lincoln on Tuesday night at 7 p.m. at Eiler-Martin Stadium before traveling to Cal to face the Vulcans next Saturday at 12 p.m.
