EAST STROUDSBURG - Senior forward Channon Easley had 18 points and 12 rebounds and sophomore guard
Andy Heimbach added 15 points as East Stroudsburg University won its 12th straight game, 72-56 over the University of the Sciences on Saturday at Koehler Fieldhouse.
The victory equals the second-longest winning streak in school history, trailing only a 14-game streak during the 1940-41 season.
Easley's double-double is his fourth in the last nine games. He is averaging 14.0 points, 8.6 rebounds and 2.3 blocks per game during the 12-game winning streak
ESU held the Devils scoreless for a stretch of 11:32 in the first half during a 17-0 run that turned a 6-5 deficit into a 22-6 lead with 5:48 left in the half. Easley had eight points, sophomore guard Robbie Pines hit a three-pointer and the Warriors forced nine turnovers and seven straight misses from the field during the surge.
Jarrod Frazier broke the run with a layup with 5:35 left and USP pulled within 27-20 at halftime when Shane Connor made two three-pointers in the final minute.
Heimbach hit a three-pointer two seconds into the second half and ESU pushed its second-half lead to 19 points on a three-point play by sophomore guard Dawud Lyons just under the 14-minute mark.
USP managed to reduce the deficit to 54-48 with eight minutes to go before the Warriors put the game away with another big run, scoring 13 of the next 14 points sparked by a three-pointer by junior guard Pat Fleury to start the run and another triple by senior forward Josh Wentz to close it.
Wentz had 10 points to hit double figures for the 10th time in the last 11 games and tied his season-high with eight rebounds. Junior forward Aaron Pinckney continued his strong play off the bench with nine points and five boards in 27 minutes.
Adewale Adefemi led USP with 12 points and 10 rebounds, and Keith Dundas and Connor had 10 points each.
