EAST STROUDSBURG - Senior forward Jason Shegda assisted on the Warriors' first two goals and freshman forward Kyle Niemann scored twice in the second half to lead East Stroudsburg University to a 5-1 rout of Wilmington University in non-conference men's soccer on Wednesday at Eiler-Martin Stadium.
Shegda assisted on senior midfielder Roshane Ellison's ninth goal of the season 41 seconds into the match. Socrates Joachim leveled the score at 1-1 for Wilmington (6-3-1) in the 30th minute before the Warriors scored four second-half goals to improve to 9-2 on the season.
Senior forward Kevin Holmes put away a header off a pass from Shegda for the game-winning goal in the 63rd minute. Niemann scored the first of his two goals 11 minutes later on an assist from junior back Danny Drago and found the net on an assist from Holmes with five minutes to go.
Senior forward Billy Albizati, a co-captain, scored his first career goal for ESU with 13:32 remaining. Shegda leads ESU with five assists this season and Holmes has six goals and four assists.
ESU junior goalkeeper Larry Pokrywa made seven saves while facing 16 shots. Ethan Kavanagh had three saves on 20 shots for Wilmington.
The Warriors return to action on Sunday when they host PSAC West member Gannon at 1 p.m. at Eiler-Martin Stadium.
