Box Score
MILLERSVILLE - Senior Jason Shegda scored the game-tying goal with 31 seconds left in regulation, but Millersville's Kyle Loughlin struck for the winning goal in the first minute of overtime as the Marauders advanced to the PSAC championship game with a 3-2 win over two-time defending champion East Stroudsburg University on Wednesday afternoon at Biemesderfer Stadium.
Shegda found the back of the net following a scramble inside the six-yard box, with the assists credited to junior Toric Robinson and senior Roshane Ellison. The score came 11 minutes after Luis Guerrero gave Millersville (16-2) a 2-1 lead with his first goal of the season following a free kick just outside the ESU penalty box. The Marauders controlled most of the next 10 minutes, but the Warriors made the most of their opportunity as Shegda sent the game into overtime with his second goal of the afternoon.
The winning goal was set up by a shot by Sean McLaughlin that was saved by ESU goalkeeper Larry Pokrywa, but Loughlin knocked the rebound in to put Millersville into the final. The Marauders will host California on Saturday with both schools looking for the first conference championship in school history.
Pat Buffuto gave Millersville the lead 2:47 into the game with a goal assisted by McLaughlin and Ryan Kiley, but the Warriors responded minutes later. Shegda knocked in a header off a cross by Robinson to tie the game 7:30 into the contest, and the score remained deadlocked until the 79th minute.
Pokrywa made seven saves for ESU, which held a 17-16 edge in shots. Matt Langione had four saves for Millersville.
The Warriors (15-6) are ranked No. 3 in this week's NCAA Division II Atlantic Regional poll and will await the release of the tournament field on Monday, Nov. 10.
