Southwest Minnesota State - W 10-3, L 19-3

Rockhurst - W 4-1, W 6-2

FORT MYERS, Fla. - Sophomores Jeremy Gigliotti and Steve Prazenka both had impressive outings on the mound to lead East Stroudsburg University to a pair of victories (4-1, 6-2) over Rockhurst University (Missouri) on Sunday at the Gene Cusic Classic.

The Warriors split their doubleheader with Southwest Minnesota State on Saturday, winning the opener 10-3 before falling 19-3 in the nightcap.

Senior Dave Boyer threw a complete game, retiring 14 of the final 15 hitters, struck out seven and gave up two earned runs in the first game on Saturday. Gigliotti followed with another complete game on Sunday morning, as he gave up just four hits and struck out seven to earn his first victory of the season.

In the second game, Prazenka took a three-hit shutout into the sixth inning before surrendering a pair of runs, and sophomore Christian Saveri got out of a two-on, one-out situation with the tying run at the plate and retired all five batters he faced to record his first career save.

Senior outfielder Kyle Sheaffer has led the offense through the first two days of the Gene Cusic Classic, hitting .538 (7-of-13) with a home run, a double and three runs batted in. His homer gave the Warriors a 2-0 lead in the first inning of the second game against Rockhurst, and he was 3-for-3 with a walk, an RBI and two runs scored in the win over Southwest Minnesota State.

Sophomore DH/OF John Pisker homered from both sides of the plate on Saturday. In the first game, he tied the score at 3-3 with a blast from the left-hand side to lead off the third inning, which propelled ESU to its 10-3 victory.

His home run from the right side pulled ESU within 3-2 in the top of the third inning of the second game, but Southwest Minnesota State responded with 11 runs in the bottom half to put the game away early.

The Warriors lost starting centerfielder Mike Bortz with an injury in the opening game on Saturday as he pulled into second base following a double. They were already without sophomore third baseman Brendan O'Malley, but the defense was very good behind Gigliotti and Prazenka on Sunday.

ESU didn't commit an error in either game against Rockhurst and turned three double plays, including two inning-enders in the 6-2 win in the second contest.

The Warriors are off on Monday and will return to action on Tuesday with a doubleheader against the University of Charleston (W.V.) beginning at 10 a.m.
