EAST STROUDSBURG - Junior 1B Chris Zsenak was 4-for-6 with six runs batted in as East Stroudsburg University split a non-conference baseball doubleheader with Lock Haven on Tuesday afternoon at Mitterling Field.

Zsenak raised his season batting average to .389 and drove in three of the Warriors' four runs in a 5-4 loss in the first game. He also had three RBI in the nightcap and junior CF Mike Bortz and senior LF Kyle Sheaffer drove in two runs each in a 9-5 win in the nightcap.

Bortz had two doubles and scored twice in the opener, and went 2-for-3 with another double and scored two more runs in game two. The Pen Argyl product has 19 extra-base hits (10 doubles, two triples, seven home runs) in 32 games in his first season with the Warriors and leads the team with 30 runs.

Sheaffer was 4-for-8 on the day, including a 3-for-4 performance with a double in the second game. He also hit his 10th career home run in the first game and has 99 career runs batted in, 10 short of the school record.

In game one, Lock Haven scored three runs in the fifth inning to go ahead 5-2 and withstood a late ESU rally. Sheaffer homered in the sixth inning to make the score 5-3, and the Warriors pulled within one in the bottom of the seventh on an RBI single by Zsenak before Sheaffer flew out to center to end the game.

The Bald Eagles led 2-0 early in the second game before the Warriors got the offense going with two runs in the third inning. They went ahead with three more runs in the fourth, as sophomore SS Anthony Clemens and junior RF Kevin Thompson contributed RBI singles and junior 2B Chad Schlegel had a sacrifice fly.

Lock Haven scored a run in each of its final three at bats, but ESU stayed ahead with another run in the fifth on Sheaffer's double, and scored three more times in the sixth as Bortz, Zsenak and Sheaffer all drove in runs.

Sophomore Ronald Manning earned his first win of the year with three earned runs over 5.1 innings, and senior Dave Boyer notched his second career save.

Junior Bill Hezel took the loss in game one and sophomore Christian Saveri retired all five batters he faced in relief.

ESU finishes its PSAC East schedule this weekend with four games against Millersville. The Warriors will be on the road on Friday before hosting the Marauders on Saturday beginning at 1 p.m.
