MILLERSVILLE - Millersville won for the 16th time in its last 18 games and improved to 12-6 in the PSAC East baseball standings with two wins over East Stroudsburg University (7-4, 3-0) on Friday afternoon.

The Marauders received a solid effort from Ryan Stauffer in game one and a two-hit shutout from Brett Rhoads in game two to wrap up a PSAC tournament berth.

Freshman Tom Admire tossed a complete game, giving up three unearned runs in six innings, in his first career conference start in the nightcap for the Warriors.

Derek Kline gave Millersville a 2-0 lead with a home run in the first inning of the opener before ESU came back with two runs in the second, on back-to-back doubles by senior LF Kyle Sheaffer and junior RF Kevin Thompson, who later scored on an error.

Millersville recaptured the lead with two runs (one earned) off ESU starter Steve Prazenka in the second and added another run in the third to go ahead 5-2. The Marauders tagged on two more unearned runs in the fourth.

Junior CF Mike Bortz banged a two-run double that scored junior 2B Chad Schlegel and sophomore DH Brendan O'Malley in the fifth inning to make the score 7-4. ESU got the tying run to the plate in the seventh, but Stauffer retired junior 1B Chris Zsenak to finish the game.

Rhoads hurled a two-hitter with two strikeouts and two walks in the second game, and Millersville scored all three of its runs following an error in the third inning. Admire gave up six hits and struck out five but fell to 0-2 on the season.

ESU closes its conference schedule on Saturday with a 1 p.m. doubleheader against the Marauders.

The Warriors will honor their three seniors, Dave Boyer, Jason Colletti and Kyle Sheaffer, along with baseball alumni who are returning to campus and area Little Leaguers who are encouraged to wear their uniforms to the game.
