EAST STROUDSBURG - Senior OF Kyle Sheaffer had a two-out single to drive in the winning run of a 5-3 (14 inn.) victory and sophomore Jeremy Gigliotti threw a four-hit gem in a 5-2 win as East Stroudsburg University took two of three games from No. 5 West Chester on Sunday at Mitterling Field.

The day started with the resumption of a 3-3, 13-inning game that was suspended due to darkness on Saturday at West Chester (29-4, 6-2) with the Warriors coming to bat in the top of the 14th inning.

Sophomore 3B Brendan O'Malley drew a one-out walk and stole second and junior 1B Chris Zsenak also reached on a walk with two outs to bring Sheaffer to the plate, and the senior delivered a single to right field to score O'Malley. Junior OF Kevin Thompson followed with a double down the left field line to plate Zsenak for an insurance run.

Sophomore Anthony Clemens blanked the Golden Rams in the bottom of the frame, helped by two nice defensive plays by junior Chad Schlegel at shortstop, for his first save of the season and the seventh of his career to match the ESU career record.

Sophomore Christian Saveri earned the win with five innings of scoreless relief on Saturday, and sophomore Steve Prazenka limited the Golden Rams to three runs over eight innings. Prazenka shut out Mansfield 1-0 last week in his first conference start of the season.

Gigliotti allowed just four hits and one earned run and struck out five in a 5-2 win in the first game of Sunday's doubleheader.

The Warriors (13-18, 3-5) put together four consecutive two-out hits to score three runs in the first inning. Junior CF Mike Bortz and Zsenak had back-to-back doubles, Sheaffer had an RBI single and Thompson followed with another base hit to put runners at the corners. Sheaffer scored the third run of the inning on a double steal as Thompson was caught in a rundown.

West Chester scratched out runs in the third and fifth innings to pull within 3-2, but ESU responded with a run in the bottom of the fifth on another double steal when Schlegel stole home and Bortz advanced all the way to third.

Freshman SS Edwin Padua singled to score Thompson for ESU's final run in the bottom of the sixth. Gigliotti retired the side in order in the sixth and seventh innings to seal the victory.

West Chester posted a 6-0 win in the final game of the series on a combined shutout from Bret Moyer (6.0 IP, 2 hits) and James Rundatz. The Golden Rams scored twice in the second, then built their lead with at least one run over each of the next three innings to split the season series. West Chester won the first game of the series 12-0 on Saturday.

ESU heads to Lock Haven for a non-conference doubleheader on Tuesday before taking on Bloomsburg in the third PSAC East series of the season, beginning Friday at 1 p.m. at Mitterling Field.
