Box Score

EAST STROUDSBURG - Senior guard Dawud Lyons paced a balanced scoring effort with 15 points to lead East Stroudsburg University to its sixth straight victory with a 79-65 win over Bloomsburg on Wednesday night.

Junior guard Andy Heimbach scored 12 points, including eight in a 41-second stretch in the first half, and senior forward Chris Bach had 10 points and eight rebounds, giving him double figures in every game this season.

Four other players scored at least eight points each - senior guard Pat Fleury and sophomore guard Mike DeMarco both had nine points, and senior forward Aaron Pinckney and sophomore forward Mike Tobin scored eight points apiece.

The Huskies led 24-22 after Ronnie Benson capped a 7-0 Bloomsburg run with a three-pointer with 8:47 left in the opening half before Heimbach and the Warriors took control. Heimbach hit a three-pointer at the 8:40 mark, pulled down a defensive rebound and made another three at 8:18, and had a steal and layup with 7:59 to go for a personal 8-0 run.

Bach had three steals and three blocks and sparked the Warriors' next stretch on the defensive end, while Fleury connected again from downtown and Lyons had a layup on an assist from Bach to complete a 13-0 surge that gave ESU a 35-24 lead.

The halftime score was 46-34, and the Warriors cruised from there, never allowing the lead to reach single-digits while wrapping up their sixth consecutive victory to improve to 12-4 on the season.

ESU shot 66.7 percent (18-27) in the first half before cooling off, but still shot 50 percent for the game. Bloomsburg shot 37.7 percent, with Jesse Betar (6-of-8, 19 points) the only Huskie to make more than half of his shots from the field.

Lyons was 8-of-8 at the foul line and ESU was 20-of-25 as a team. The Warriors entered the game ranked third in the PSAC in free throw percentage after finishing ninth last year.

ESU will go for its seventh consecutive win on Saturday afternoon against Cheyney. Both the women's game at 1 p.m. and the men's game at 3 p.m. will be televised live on Blue Ridge TV-13.
