CLARION - Senior forward Chris Bach had a career-high 30 points one game after matching his previous best with 28, but Clarion pulled out a 75-74 win over East Stroudsburg University in PSAC men's basketball crossover action on Saturday afternoon.

The loss is the third straight for the Warriors (6-4), who dropped a pair of games against strong competition at Florida Southern's holiday tournament last week. ESU was 13-1 against the PSAC West over the past two seasons.

Shameel Carty and Paul McQueen both scored 14 points off the bench for Clarion, which put five players in double figures and improves to 7-2 on the year.

Bach was 16-of-20 at the foul line, recording the sixth-most made free throws in a game in school history and the most since All-American Jonathan Roberts made 17 against Millersville in 1990. He also notched the first 30-point game for the Warriors since Danny Hargrove had 30 at Kutztown late in the 2004-05 season. Bach's 28-point effort came against St. Joseph's (Ind.) in a 80-71 loss on Tuesday in Florida.

ESU led by as many as 13 points (25-12) in the first half after the Golden Eagles opened an early 6-0 lead, and the Warriors were up 45-36 at halftime. Clarion made it a one-point game with a 9-0 stretch early in the second half and continued the surge, going ahead 63-54 following back-to-back three-pointers by Josh Yanke with 10 minutes to play.

Bach scored 11 of the Warriors' next 13 points, going 9-of-12 at the foul line, and tied the game at 71-71 with a jumper with 2:24 left. Junior guard Andy Heimbach gave ESU the lead with a three-pointer on the next possession before McQueen cut the margin to 74-73 with a jumper at the other end.

Mike Sherry knocked down two free throws with 1:04 left for the last scoring by either team. Carty turned the ball over with 18 seconds left to give ESU one last shot, but Mike DeMarco's jumper wouldn't go in at the buzzer.

ESU heads to Erie to take on Gannon on Sunday at 3 p.m. The Golden Knights, in their first season in the PSAC, are ranked No. 4 in Division II in this week's coaches association poll.
