PETERSBURG, Va. - East Stroudsburg University's pitching was sharp in its first outing of the season, as three Warriors combined to throw a one-hitter in a 6-0 victory on Saturday at Virginia State.

Junior Steve Prazenka, senior Jason Colletti and junior Christian Saveri each threw three innings and struck out nine, and the Warriors didn't allow a hit until there was one out in the ninth inning.

Prazenka had one strikeout and earned the win to improve to 7-3 for his career, and Colletti and Saveri both fanned four in their three innings of work.

Senior first baseman Mark Angelo and senior outfielder Kevin Thompson both had two doubles and were involved in all three innings where ESU scored runs. Thompson doubled and scored on a sacrifice fly by freshman shortstop Evan Gallagher to open the scoring in the second, and senior second baseman Chad Schlegel followed with an RBI double that plated junior third baseman Anthony Clemens, who reached on a walk.

ESU scored three more runs in the sixth, sparked by a double by Angelo and an RBI double by Thompson. The Warriors had two sacrifice flies in the frame, by O'Malley and Clemens, to go ahead 5-0. Angelo collected an RBI double in the ninth after senior outfielder Mike Bortz walked and stole second.

The Warriors are back in action at Colbert Field with a doubleheader on Sunday beginning at noon.
