KUTZTOWN - Andre Woodlin, Dave Ben and Stephen Dennis combined to score 69 points and Kutztown improved to 7-1 in the PSAC East with a 93-70 win over East Stroudsburg University on Saturday afternoon.
Woodlin had 26 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists, Ben scored 25 points and was 6-of-8 from the three-point line, and Dennis contributed 18 points, nine rebounds and six assists to lead the Golden Bears (18-3 overall), who shot 10-of-20 from long range and got 86 points from their starters.
Senior forward Chris Bach had 21 points and 12 rebounds for ESU (12-9, 3-5), his seventh double-double and eighth 20-point game this season. He went over 900 career points between his three years at ESU and freshman year at Philadelphia University, and has 909 points with six games left in the regular season.
The Warriors beat Kutztown 77-73 in the PSAC East opener on January 14 at Koehler Fieldhouse and led 15-9 early in the game, as Bach scored six straight points and sophomore forward Mike Tobin finished the run with a three-pointer.
Julius Gray made a three for Kutztown and Ben scored a pair of buckets to tie the game at 17-all. ESU took the lead one more time, on a triple by junior guard Andy Heimbach at the 10:46 mark, before Woodlin converted a three-point play and then sparked a 9-0 stretch with a three-pointer that sent the lead to double-digits.
Kutztown led 47-35 at the half and was up by double figures for all but 54 seconds of the second half. The Golden Bears stretched the lead to 75-45 on a three-pointer by Ben before ESU went on a 14-2 run to get within 18, but couldn't continue the momentum over the final 10 minutes.
Senior guard Pat Fleury tied his season-high with 14 points and had six rebounds and six assists, and Heimbach and sophomore guard Mike DeMarco scored eight points each. Tobin had seven points and four rebounds in his first career start.
The Warriors will look to get back in the win column on Wednesday night at Bloomsburg.
