WEST CHESTER - West Chester took three of four games in this weekend's PSAC East baseball series with East Stroudsburg University after taking both ends of a doubleheader, 9-1 and 7-2, on Saturday afternoon at Serpico Stadium.

David Slusser (6.1 innings, 1 run) and Bret Moyer (complete game, 2 runs) both earned wins on the mound for the Golden Rams (17-8, 7-1), while first baseman Blair Dameron led the offense by going 5-for-7 at the plate as West Chester held a 20-12 advantage in hits in the two-game set.

ESU scored first in both games, taking a 1-0 lead in the first inning of the opener on an RBI double by senior 3B Mark Angelo after senior OF Mike Bortz was hit by a pitch, before the Golden Rams scored four runs in the bottom of the inning keyed by an RBI single by Matt Cotellese and a two-run single by Dameron.

Dameron hit a two-run homer in the third and West Chester put two more runs on the board in the fifth to take an 8-1 lead and put the game out of reach.

Junior DH John Pisker was 3-for-3 with two doubles to raise his season average to .500 (21-for-42) before going 0-for-2 with a walk in the second game.

Freshmen middle infielders Ryan Guarino (2B) and Evan Gallagher (SS) were both 3-for-6 in the doubleheader to provide a bright spot at the bottom of the order for the ESU offense.

The second game was scoreless through three innings, with junior Steve Prazenka on the mound for ESU and Moyer on the mound for West Chester. The Warriors took a 1-0 advantage in the top of the fourth as Angelo scored on a single by senior OF Kevin Thompson, but the lead was short-lived as the Golden Rams scored three runs in the bottom of the inning.

The Warriors got one run back in the top of the fifth before another three-run frame for West Chester, and Moyer limited ESU to two hits over the final two innings to finish his complete game.

ESU plays a non-conference game at Wilmington (Del.) on Monday before getting back into PSAC East play next weekend with four games against Bloomsburg. The Warriors will look to improve on their 1-7 conference mark after opening the year against defending PSAC champion Kutztown and preseason favorite West Chester.
