BETHLEHEM - Junior Paul Wagner won the hammer and shot put and placed second in the discus to help the East Stroudsburg University men's track and field team to the Lafayette Eight-Way Meet championship hosted by Moravian College on Saturday.

Wagner, junior Matthew Gallup (pole vault), freshman Joshua Hontz (javelin) and junior Drew Miller (triple jump) all won their events as the Warriors scored 148.5 points, outdistancing St. Joseph's (129) and Moravian (126).

Junior Emily Hollick (400m hurdles) and sophomore Allyson Cardullo (javelin) finished first for the ESU women, who were fourth of the eight schools.

Wagner recorded marks of 178-8 in the hammer, 50-7 1/2 in the shot put and 153-3 in the discus to earn 28 points for the Warriors. Gallup cleared 14-11 in the pole vault, Hontz threw the javelin 191-3 and Miller claimed the triple jump with a mark of 47-1 1/2.

Junior Rusty Smith tied his own school record and finished second in the 110m hurdles with a time of 14.67 seconds. Junior Chris Reddick was second in the 400m (49.82) and junior Andrew McCloskey was third in the 100m dash (10.87). Junior Kenny Cardullo tied for second in the high jump (6-2 3/4) and was third in the javelin (182-3).

McCloskey anchored the 4x100m relay team to a second-place finish (42.28) and was joined by Reddick, sophomore Asher Ashfield and junior Jeff McClenton.

Hollick's performance in the 400m hurdles (1:06.36) was the top effort on the track for the ESU women. She also ran the second leg on the 4x400m relay team that finished second in 4:04.93, along with sophomore Jasmine Johnson and seniors Amilee Schillinger and Kara Parrillo. Schillinger was fourth in the 400m and sophomore Brittany Knowles was fifth in the 100m hurdles.

The Warriors were strong in nearly all of the women's field events, led by Cardullo's winning mark of 131-8 in the javelin. In the high jump, ESU swept the second through fifth spots - sophomore Lynn Mayer, junior Janelle Smith and freshman Devyn Emerich all cleared 5-5 and junior Trina Carito went over at 5-3. Junior Amanda Sines was third in both the shot put (38-4 1/4) and the discus (120-0) and fourth in the hammer (140-8) to lead the throwers.

ESU travels to Millersville next weekend for the PSAC East Challenge, the same site that will host the PSAC Championships the second weekend in May.
