NEW CASTLE, Del. - Anthony Randazzo scored the game-winning goal in the 77th minute to give Wilmington a 2-1 win over East Stroudsburg University in the men's soccer opener for both schools on Thursday afternoon.
Randazzo broke a 1-1 deadlock with a goal from 25 yards out on an assist from Chris Simms with 13:50 left in the game. Ethan Kavanagh made three saves and Wilmington outshot ESU 11-6.
Senior forward Toric Robinson opened the scoring for the Warriors with a penalty kick at the 29-minute mark, his seventh career goal, but Wilmington evened the score at 1-1 less than two minutes later on a goal by Nickalus McDonald. The score remained tied for the next 45 minutes before Randazzo's game-winner.
Senior Larry Pokrywa made four saves in his 44th career start for the Warriors.
ESU is back in action on Saturday with a trip to Bloomfield for a 1 p.m. start.
