EAST STROUDSBURG – Jovan Pervaz scored the only goal in the 66th minute as longtime non-conference men's soccer rival NYIT posted a 1-0 win over East Stroudsburg University on Tuesday night at Eiler-Martin Stadium.

The Warriors (11-6) had their best scoring chances late in the second half, but freshman forward Justin Shaffer's long-distance blast towards an open goal was cleared off the line by an NYIT defender with 12 minute left and redshirt senior midfielder Michael Kane's free kick from just outside the 18 went over the bar in the final three minutes.

ESU leads the all-time series with NYIT (8-7-1), 10-9-1, which includes four meetings in postseason play. The Warriors won two of the last three regular season games, including a 2-0 victory last year. The teams have met in the NCAA tournament in 2003 and 2007 and the ECAC playoffs in 1988 and 1993.

The Warriors have one regular season game remaining, hosting Bloomsburg on Saturday at 8 p.m. in the final game on the 2010 PSAC schedule. They have a 5-3 conference record, tied for first with Millersville and Shippensburg. All four PSAC playoff spots are up for grabs entering the final week of play.
