ESU has suffered three of its four losses this season in a four-game stretch over the last seven days and hosts Cheyney on Saturday at Koehler Fieldhouse. The Warriors are No. 4 in the NCAA Division II Atlantic Region rankings with West Liberty, IUP and Saint Augustine's holding the top three spots.

Senior guard Robby Pines had 14 points, five assists and five steals for ESU, which led by 13 points after an 18-2 run late in the first half. Mansfield scored the final seven points of the half to pull within 35-29, but the Warriors stretched their lead to 42-31 early in the second half following an offensive rebound and putback by freshman forward Terrance King, who had seven points and six rebounds.

The Mounties got back in the game behind the play of Carr and Callahan, who scored 28 of their 42 second-half points. A 7-0 spurt included a dunk by Carr and a three-pointer by Callahan to pull Mansfield within 49-47 with just over 10 minutes left to start a stretch of 20 straight points by the duo.

Callahan put Mansfield ahead for the first time since the six-minute mark of the first half with two free throws with 8:55 to play and extended the lead to 55-51 with a three-pointer on the next possession. Two more free throws by Callahan gave the Mounties a six-point lead before Pines and junior guard Micah Covert both hit a pair from the line to make the score 57-55 with 4:22 remaining.

Carr scored again and Callahan made another triple for a seven-point lead before ESU made one last push, as Pines had a layup and then hit a three-pointer after two free throws by Tony Fannick to pull within 64-60 with 1:52 remaining.

Carr finished his scoring with a layup at the other end and Fannick stretched the lead to seven with 1:06 to go, and the final 10-point margin after two free throws by Callahan was the largest of the game.

Covert and freshman forward Marcus Brown both had 10 points for the Warriors. Brown recorded his fourth 10-point outing in the last five games and is the two-time defending PSAC East Freshman of the Week.
