PALM BEACH, Fla. – The East Stroudsburg University baseball program ran its winning streak to five games with a pair of victories over USP, 17-7 and 4-1, on Monday at the Palm Beach Challenge in Florida.
A pair of pitchers won their first career starts for the Warriors, as sophomore
Ryan Beck allowed one run on two hits and struck out five in 5.0 innings in the opener, and redshirt freshman
Kyle Evans sealed the sweep with seven strikeouts in 6.0 innings of work in the second game.
The Warriors (6-4) capitalized on 16 hits and eight walks to jump out to a 17-1 lead through the top of the sixth of the first game before USP scored six runs in the bottom of the inning.

Jake Griesemer was 3-for-3 with a double, junior Jason Kelmer was 3-for-3 with his second home run of the season, and freshman C
Nico Delerme was 2-for-2, drew two walks and scored three runs in his second start of the year.
Sophomore 2B
Ryan Guarino went 2-for-4 with five RBI at the bottom of the order, contributing a two-run single in the second, a two-run double in the fifth and was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to score a run in the sixth.
ESU scored three runs in both the fourth and fifth innings, including Kelmer's homer to lead off the fifth, and scored eight runs in the sixth inning. Freshman LF
Evan Cain was the ninth batter to hit in the inning and had a bases-clearing double.
In game two, the first three hitters in the order – sophomore SS
Evan Gallagher, Griesemer and Delerme – were all 2-for-3 to collect six of ESU's eight hits.
The Warriors did all of their scoring in the first two innings. Griesemer singled, moved to second on a passed ball and scored on a single by Delerme in the first, and Griesemer and Delerme both had RBI singles in a three-run second.
Evans took a shutout into the fifth inning before USP put together a single and a triple with two outs to score its only run. Sophomore
Chad Jacobson pitched a perfect seventh inning for his first career save.
ESU was 24-for-59 at the plate on Monday and Gallagher, Griesemer and Delerme all had a pair of multi-hit games. Gallagher raised his season average to .417 and Griesemer is hitting .361 through the first 10 games.
The Warriors will look for their sixth straight win to close their trip to Florida when they take on Chestnut Hill on Tuesday at 9 a.m.
