EAST STROUDSBURG – Slippery Rock scored a pair of second half goals and Greg Blum made six saves to lead the Rock, ranked No. 9 in the NSCAA poll, to a 2-0 win over No. 17 East Stroudsburg University in PSAC men's soccer on Saturday at Eiler-Martin Stadium.
ESU falls to 5-1 (1-1 PSAC) after winning its conference opener on Friday, 1-0 vs. Lock Haven. Slippery Rock (5-1-1, 3-1) is the defending PSAC champion and took its first conference loss on Friday at Bloomsburg.
Slippery Rock broke through for the game's first goal 4:57 into the second half as David Moore got on the other end of a pass from Tynan Smith at the far post. The score remained 1-0 until under the seven-minute mark as Zach Hall headed in a corner kick taken by Kenneth Fultz. Both Moore and Hall entered the game as substitutes for the Rock.
The Warriors held a 16-8 advantage in shots, including an 8-2 advantage in the second half, while Slippery Rock had a 9-3 lead in corner kicks.
ESU continues its PSAC schedule with two matches next week, traveling to West Chester on Wednesday for a 2 p.m. start and hosting Millersville on Saturday at 5:30 p.m.
