Both teams opened their conference schedules with wins over Cheyney before traveling to West Chester, Mansfield and Kutztown for their last three contests. The doubleheader with Millersville was slated for Wednesday night but was postponed to Sunday due to snow earlier this week.
The Warriors will play three games in five days after a week layoff since their last action last Saturday. This weekend's back-to-back schedule is followed by a trip to Bloomsburg on Wednesday to finish the first half of conference play.
The Warriors' men's team, the preseason favorite in the PSAC East, has faced a particularly tough schedule in the early going and is 9-7 overall and 2-2 against the PSAC East. They have played the next four teams in the preseason poll, including three on the road, and had a road win at West Chester before falling at Mansfield and Kutztown last week.
ESU is undefeated at home with a 7-0 record heading into the weekend. Shippensburg is 6-11 overall (1-4 PSAC East) after a home loss to West Chester on Thursday night. Millersville (7-8, 2-2) had home wins over Cheyney and West Chester last week and hosts Kutztown on Saturday before making the trip to ESU.
The women are looking to get back in the win column and enter the weekend with a 4-12 record, matching last season's win total. Millersville (13-3, 3-1) is the defending PSAC East champion and preseason favorite, but the Warriors have played close games with the Marauders in their last three trips to Koehler Fieldhouse, falling by a total of 11 points. ESU has beaten Shippensburg (8-9, 3-2) at home in each of the last two years.
Live stats for all four games this weekend will be available on ESU's athletics website at www.esuwarriors.com.
