EAST STROUDSBURG – Junior
Stephen Miller gave East Stroudsburg University the lead with his first career goal in the 37th minute, but UDC scored with just 56 seconds left in regulation as the Warriors and Firebirds played to a 1-1 tie in non-conference men's soccer on Saturday at Eiler-Martin Stadium.
ESU (4-6-3) held a 25-9 advantage in shots and remained unbeaten in its last five games, including three PSAC wins and a 0-0 tie vs. Queens on Wednesday night.
UDC's tying goal came from Bakary Coulibaly, assisted by Ben Diaz, in the final minute of regulation. The Warriors had a penalty kick turned away in the 68th minute, one of seven saves by UDC backup goalkeeper Alex Vert. Kyle Heatherington had two saves in the first half. Freshman
Sean Murphy made one save for ESU.
The contest included 38 fouls – 24 on UDC (6-3-3) – three yellow cards and a red card (in the 85th minute) on UDC, and a yellow card on ESU. UDC has two wins and two ties in its last four games.
The Warriors return to PSAC action on Tuesday night at 5 p.m. as part of a doubleheader against Shippensburg at Eiler-Martin Stadium.
