EAST STROUDSBURG – Freshman guard
Whis Grant scored 22 points to lead four East Stroudsburg University scorers with at least 16 as the Warriors won their home opener, 107-53, over PSU-Schuylkill on Tuesday night at Koehler Fieldhouse.
Junior forward
Duane Johnson had 18 points, junior forward
Terrance King had 17 points and 11 rebounds and freshman guard
Matt Tobin scored 16 points off the bench as ESU had 11 players find the scoring column.
Johnson added four rebounds, five assists, six steals and four blocks while shooting 8-for-11 in 19 minutes and King had a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds in the first half for his second double-double in three games this season.
Tobin scored 11 points in the second half and redshirt junior guard
Matt Labick, redshirt freshman guard
Muhamadou Kaba and freshman forward
Lamont Tillery all chipped in with seven points. Grant and Tobin played a team-high 25 minutes and 12 of the Warriors' 13 players who got in the game saw at least 10 minutes of action.
Senior guard
Russell Graham III ran the offense with four points and seven assists – six in the first half – as Johnson (16), King (13) and Grant (12) all hit double figures before intermission.
Grant was 8-for-11 from the field and 3-for-5 from the three-point line to continue the hot start to his freshman campaign. He scored 30 points and shot 5-for-9 from long distance in his ESU debut, a 96-92 loss to No. 6-ranked West Liberty, and had 11 points the following day against Charleston.
ESU opened the game on an 11-0 run in 1:30, getting a three-point play from King and a pair of three's from Johnson, and pulled away for a 62-31 halftime advantage. The Warriors held the Nittany Lions to four points in the first 10 minutes of the second half, forced 33 turnovers and held a 60-30 advantage on the glass.
ESU opens PSAC action on Saturday at 3 p.m. against Gannon following the women's game, their season opener, at 1 p.m.
The Warriors were picked second in the PSAC East preseason poll while Gannon and Clarion, this weekend's opponents, were picked third and sixth in the PSAC West poll.

* ESU extended its home non-conference winning streak to 29 games. The Warriors three more home non-conference games this season - St. Thomas Aquinas (Nov. 22), Molloy (Nov. 28) and USP (Dec. 19).
