NEW YORK, N.Y. – Sophomore Corinne Fitzgerald ran a 15-second personal best in the 3000m for the fourth-fastest time in school history to lead East Stroudsburg University's entrants at the New Balance Collegiate Invitational on Friday at the Armory in New York City.

Fitzgerald had a time of 10:04.92 to finish third in a field of 29 competitors that included 21 Division I athletes, along with three runners from PSAC foe Shippensburg and four from McGill University in Ontario, Canada. Albany's Jennifer Pierson won in 10:02.61 and Villanova's Sarah Morrison was second in 10:03.48. Shippensburg's Kathleen Frey was sixth in 10:17.81 as the next Division II finisher. Fitzgerald set her previous PR of 10:19.36 two weeks ago at Bucknell.

Senior Negus Graham ran a time of 48.83 seconds in the men's championship 400m on the Armory's banked track, matching the time he ran last year at the same event to set the school record. Graham lowered the record to 47.37 in finishing fourth at last year's NCAA Championships; he was 19th overall and fourth in his heat on Friday behind Leslie Murray of Delaware State (48.65), Deaundra Dailey of Tennessee (48.70) and Mike Robertson of Ottawa (48.73).

Graham also ran the 400m leg on the Distance Medley Relay team that had the fourth-best performance in school history in 10:10.60. He was joined by sophomore Mike Saparito (1200m), senior Mahmoud Aldeen (800m) and sophomore Amr Aldeen (1600m) as the Warriors finished 11th in a field of 15 schools. Three of the legs – Graham, Mahmoud and Amr Aldeen – all went to high school at East Stroudsburg South as ESU just missed the NCAA provisional qualifying time.

Three other Warriors ran in the collegiate open 400 in senior Jasmine Johnson, senior Greg Pammer and junior Ian Melhorn.

Johnson finished second in her heat and 28th overall with a time of 58.11 seconds. Jordan Hoyt of Pittsburgh won the heat in 57.96, followed by Johnson, Gabrielle Brooks of Georgia State (58.62) and Annemarie Pantke of Fairleigh Dickinson (58.88).

Melhorn won his heat with a personal best of 49.95 seconds and placed 35th of 66 in the overall field. He edged Robert Rogers of St. Peter's by four-hundredths of a second and also beat Terry Benson of Tennessee (50.18) and Kevin Wilbank of Pittsburgh (51.71). Pammer was 56th overall with a time of 51.17 while competing in a heat that had three sub-50 second times.

The Warriors host the DeSchriver Invitational on Saturday at Koehler Fieldhouse. Complete results of the meet will be posted on www.esuwarriors.com as soon as they are available.
