EAST STROUDSBURG – Yuseff Carr had 25 points and nine rebounds to lead Mansfield to an 80-66 win at East Stroudsburg University in PSAC East men's basketball on Wednesday night at Koehler Fieldhouse.

Carr had 16 points in the second half, including five in a 13-0 run early in the period that give the Mounties (14-7, 6-3) the lead for good. Mansfield outscored ESU 48-33 after intermission led by Carr and Tony Fannick, who had 11 of his 13 points in the second period. Derrison Anthony finished with 16 points, 10 in the first half.

The loss drops the Warriors (11-10, 4-5) below .500 in the PSAC East with five conference games remaining. Mansfield won at Koehler Fieldhouse for the first time since 2004-05 to sweep the season series between last year's PSAC East regular season co-champions. ESU falls to 8-2 at home this season and hosts West Chester (12-9, 3-6) in another big conference game on Saturday.

Senior forward Mike Tobin led ESU with 12 points and six rebounds, senior guard Mike DeMarco scored 10 points and sophomore forward Terrance King had seven points, six rebounds and three blocked shots but fouled out in 15 minutes. Sophomore forward Duane Johnson produced eight points, five rebounds, two blocks and two steals.

Mansfield had two double-figure runs in the contest that proved to be the difference. The first turned a 20-15 deficit into a 26-15 lead midway through the first half, and the second gave the Mounties a 47-38 advantage after trailing by four early in the second half.

ESU led by one at halftime, 33-32, after an end-to-end burst for a layup by DeMarco for the last two of his eight first-half points. Tobin opened the second half with a jumper and King had a three-point play to put the Warriors ahead 38-34, but Fannick scored the next time down, Carr converted a three-point play to give Mansfield the lead for good and Anthony had a steal and layup for the first seven points of the 13-0 run.

The Warriors never got closer than six points the rest of the way as Mansfield shot 55.2 percent (16-for-29) in the second half and had just 12 turnovers in the game, six on either side of intermission.

The Mounties shot 48.2 percent from the field overall, were 23-for-30 at the foul line, and held a 41-29 advantage on the glass. ESU finished the game shooting 39.0 percent, went 14-for-20 at the charity stripe and 6-for-13 from long range while committing 13 turnovers.

Saturday's game with West Chester will be televised live on Blue Ridge TV-13 and available online through ESU Warriors “All Access” on esuwarriors.com.

Kutztown maintained the top spot in the PSAC East by holding off West Chester, 67-64, on Wednesday night. Mansfield is one game back with a two-game advantage over ESU, Cheyney and Millersville.
