EAST STROUDSBURG – Sophomores Brian Ernst and Tom Spilatore both drove in four runs to lead East Stroudsburg University to a 10-0 win over USP in the Warriors' home opener on Thursday afternoon at Mitterling Field.

Sophomore Mike Muglia (6.0 IP, 5 hits, 6 strikeouts) and redshirt sophomore Kyle Evans (3.0 IP, 2 hits) combined on a seven-hitter on the mound as ESU improved to 13-3 entering its first PSAC East series of the season against Kutztown this weekend.

Ernst was 2-for-2 with a two-run double, a sacrifice fly and a walk and Spilatore went 1-for-4 with a two-run single and a sacrifice fly in the No. 4 and No. 5 spots in the order.

At the top of the lineup, junior SS Evan Gallagher was 2-for-5 with two stolen bases and two runs, redshirt junior 3B Jake Griesemer was 1-for-1 with three walks, stole four bases and scored four runs and sophomore OF Eric Boyer was 0-for-2 with three walks, two stolen bases and two runs.

Freshman 3B Mark Romano and junior OF Carey Zimmerman also had singles for the Warriors, who had eight hits and drew 13 walks from four pitchers for the Devils.

ESU took a 2-0 lead in the first inning, loading the bases on a single by Gallagher and walks by Griesemer and Boyer. Ernst hit a sacrifice fly and Spilatore had an RBI groundout to put the Warriors on the board.

The Warriors added four more in the third, keyed by Spilatore's two-run single, and two in the fourth on an RBI single by Ernst and sacrifice fly by Spilatore. Ernst's two-run double finished the scoring in the fifth.

ESU, ranked No. 3 in the NCBWA Atlantic Region poll, hosts No. 2 Kutztown on Friday at 1 p.m. in the front end of this weekend's four-game set. The Golden Bears are ranked No. 22 in the NCBWA national poll.
