OLD WESTBURY, N.Y. – NYIT scored the game's only goal with 8:30 remaining to stay undefeated with a 1-0 win over visiting East Stroudsburg University in non-conference men's soccer on Wednesday afternoon.
Matthew DiDonna scored on a header on an assist from Andrew Vasquez to give the Bears (5-0-1) their third 1-0 win over ESU in the last four seasons. NYIT's victory ties the all-time series at 10-10-1, including a pair of meetings in the NCAA Division II Tournament in 2003 and 2007.
Sophomore goalkeeper
Andrew Chongaway made five saves for ESU (1-4-1), which faced deficits of 20-7 in shots and 7-1 in corner kicks. Liam Waddy had three saves for NYIT.
The Warriors, 0-4-1 after a 3-1 win over Concord in their season opener, travel to California (6-1-2, 1-1-1) looking for a PSAC victory on Saturday.
