CALIFORNIA – Edin Sabic scored 29 seconds into the game and added two assists to lead California to a 4-0 win over East Stroudsburg University in PSAC men's soccer on Saturday afternoon.
The Vulcans (7-1-2, 2-1-1) scored twice in each half and posted their ninth shutout in 10 games this season. Their only blemish is a 3-1 loss at home against Lock Haven last Saturday.
Sabic assisted on goals by Christopher Karns in the 33rd minute and Paul Silvestrone in the 60th minute. Gaby Deller-Borgono scored on an assist from Silvestrone to finish the scoring in the 66th minute.
Sophomore
Andrew Chongaway started and made two saves in 72:33 in goal for ESU (1-5-1, 0-2-1). Freshman
Sean Murphy had two saves in 17:27 in his first career action.
The Warriors, who won their season opener on Sept. 2, are on the road for two PSAC matches next weekend with trips to Lock Haven on Friday and Slippery Rock on Saturday.
Notes: ESU is 0-5-1 in its last 6 games, the first time without a win in a 6-game stretch since going 0-6-1 in 7 games in 1982 - the Warriors' first season under
Jerry Sheska, who retired in May.
