LOCK HAVEN – Billy Pasukinis scored the game's first goal in the 41st minute to lead Lock Haven to a 3-0 win over visiting East Stroudsburg University in PSAC men's soccer on Friday afternoon at Hubert Jack Stadium.
The Bald Eagles (6-2, 4-1) broke a five-game losing streak against the Warriors (1-6-1, 0-3-1) going back to LHU's 2-1 (OT) win in the 2006 NCAA Tournament, the fourth meeting between the long-time rivals that season.
Kevin Wolfe assisted on a goal by Greg Shertzer 7:30 into the second half and scored the game's third goal eight minutes later as Lock Haven took over the top spot in the PSAC standings with 12 points.
ESU held a 15-10 advantage in shots, 9-4 in the second half, but Chad Badorf came up with five saves for the Bald Eagles. Freshman
Sean Murphy had one save in his first career start for ESU.
The Warriors hold a 41-28-6 lead in the all-time series which goes back to 1939. ESU has won 11 of the 16 PSAC championship games contested between the rivals, most recently a 2-1 (2OT) win in 2007.
ESU travels to Slippery Rock (3-4, 2-3), which fell 1-0 to Bloomsburg on Friday, for a Saturday afternoon start in conference action.
