EDINBORO – Bryan Theriot scored 17 of his 26 points in the second half and Edinboro withstood East Stroudsburg University's late run to post a 90-84 win over the Warriors in PSAC men's basketball on Saturday night in northwest Pennsylvania.

Theriot, the PSAC's second-leading scorer, also had 14 rebounds and spearheaded a 55-point second half for the Fighting Scots (7-5, 5-3 PSAC), who overcame ESU's 38-37 halftime lead to open a 12-point margin before the Warriors stormed back.

ESU (8-6, 4-4) trailed 82-72 after Theriot made two free throws with 4:40 left, but ESU came back with the next nine points in a span of 1:09 to close the gap to 82-81 on the second straight three-pointer by junior guard Gerald Bridges, Jr. with 3:13 remaining.

Edinboro stopped the run with two free throws by Clint Nicholson, and Theriot's layup with 2:29 left gave the Fighting Scots an 86-82 lead and was the last field goal of the game. ESU was 8-for-21 from the three-point line, but missed its last five from long distance, including three with a shot to tie the game, as Edinboro held on.

Freshman guard Whis Grant had 19 points, four rebounds and four assists and senior guard Russell Graham III had 15 points, six rebounds and seven assists after leading the Warriors with 14 points and nine assists in a lopsided 94-51 win at Lock Haven on Friday night.

Bridges scored a career-high 14 points, going 3-for-6 from long range and 5-for-5 at the foul line, and junior forward Duane Johnson notched his second double-double of the season and the fourth of his career with 10 points and 10 rebounds.

Theriot scored 26 points, Nicholson had 19, Cory Somerville had 16 and Jay Fletcher added 11 and seven assists for Edinboro, which rebounded from a 104-84 loss to Kutztown on Friday by shooting 51 percent for the game and 58 percent in the second half.

The Fighting Scots were 26-for-38 at the foul line and ESU's starting frontcourt of Johnson, senior Eric Bryan and junior Terrance King all fouled out of the game. Theriot was 8-for-10, Nicholson went 8-for-8 and Somerville was 4-for-11 to lead Edinboro's trips to the foul line.

Freshman forward Lamont Tillery, who scored 13 points at Lock Haven, had eight in 20 minutes on Saturday night and finished with four fouls. ESU was 12-for-19 at the line, shot 44 percent from the field and 38 percent from the three-point line.

ESU begins its 14-game PSAC East schedule against Mansfield on Wednesday night at 6 p.m. at Koehler Fieldhouse. The Warriors, picked second in the PSAC East, take a 4-4 PSAC record into divisional play and join two-time defending champion IUP as the only schools to make the PSAC Final Four the last two seasons. ESU and preseason favorite Kutztown, the Warriors' opponent on Saturday at Koehler, are tied at 4-4 behind Bloomsburg, which is 6-2.
