BLOOMSBURG - Tailback Franklyn Quiteh ran 43 times for 282 yards and three touchdowns and redshirt freshman quarterback Tim Kelly threw four touchdown passes to lead No. 6-ranked Bloomsburg to a 48-27 win over visiting East Stroudsburg University in PSAC East football on Saturday at Redman Stadium.

ESU (3-3, 2-2), coming off a 35-28 win over West Chester last Saturday, trailed 14-10 at halftime and 21-17 late in the third quarter, but Kelly threw two long touchdown passes and Quiteh ran for two of his three scores as Bloomsburg pulled away.

Both teams had just four possessions in the first half, as Bloomsburg (7-0, 4-0) scored touchdowns on its first two drives and ESU's trips produced a missed field goal, a 52-yard field goal by junior kicker Taylor Groff, a punt and a six-yard touchdown run by senior tailback Eric Deery late in the half to get ESU within 14-10.

Bloomsburg opened the second half with a 37-yard TD pass from Kelly to Glenn Hutton, Jr. to cap a 12-play, 75-yard drive, but after an ESU punt, sophomore defensive end Tarik Haddad forced a fumble by Quiteh that was recovered by freshman outside linebacker Greg Jones to give the Warriors the ball at their 46-yard line.

ESU drove the remaining 54 yards in nine plays with a 12-yard TD pass (on third-and-10) from redshirt freshman quarterback Matt Soltes to redshirt junior wide receiver Robert Bleiler getting the Warriors back on the board.

Bloomsburg scored two plays later, however, with Kelly hitting Hutton for a 68-yard score to make it 28-17 with 2:33 left in the third quarter.

ESU got within 28-20 on a 28-yard field goal by Groff two minutes into the fourth quarter, but the Huskies scored on all three of their possessions in the final quarter to pull away.

Groff's 52-yard field goal in the second quarter tied his career long and was his school-record 13th field goal of 40 or more yards. Groff, previously the only kicker in PSAC history with two field goals of 51+ yards, is now the only kicker with three field goals of that distance. He hit from 52 at Kutztown last year and 51 at Clarion two weeks ago.

Soltes, last week's PSAC East Offensive Player of the Week, was 13-for-25 for 167 yards and a touchdown and didn't throw an interception. He was also ESU's top rusher with 14 carries for 54 yards for 221 yards of total offense.

Senior tailback Kendrick Williams (10 carries, 38 yards) became the seventh back in school history with 2,000 career rushing yards, finishing the game with 2,002 yards. Deery's rushing touchdown was the eighth of his career.

Quiteh and Kelly led a Bloomsburg offense that gained 603 yards, 336 rushing and 267 passing. Kelly was 12-for-16 and hit Hutton four times for 120 yards and two TD and Ryan Dickerson four times for 117 yards and a TD. Larry Webster, a four-year forward for the Huskies in basketball who also leads the PSAC in sacks, caught a five-yard TD pass in the second quarter.

ESU hosts Kutztown (3-4, 1-3) next Saturday in its final home game of the season before hitting the road for three straight to finish the 2012 campaign. Kutztown, last year's PSAC champion, fell 73-35 to Shippensburg on Saturday in a game that saw Ship quarterback Zach Zulli match former ESU All-America Jimmy Terwilliger's conference record with nine touchdown passes.

GAME NOTES

* Douds, in his 39th season, coached his 403rd game, giving him 100 more than the second-most in PSAC history (Gene Carpenter, Millersville).
* He coached his 40th game against Bloomsburg, one week after coaching his 40th against West Chester. Douds is 14th in college football history in games coached and set the Division II record last year (Oct. 22) with his 394th game. He is tied for 4th in Division II history with 235 career wins.

* Douds faced Hale for the 26th time. He faced Carpenter 27 times, the most of any opposing coach. He has faced 99 coaches since 1974; Marty Schaetzle (Mercyhurst) will be the 100th on Nov. 10 unless either team makes the State Game.
* ESU holds a 38-37-2 lead in the series since the first meeting in 1927. Bloomsburg won its 7th straight since ESU's 52-39 win in the 2005 NCAA Playoffs. The Huskies have won 8 straight in the regular season since ESU's 30-24 win in 2004.

ESU has lost 7 straight and 10 of its last 11 against ranked teams. Its last win over a ranked team was 14-11 vs. #25 Virginia Union in the 2008 season opener. ESU lost to 3 ranked teams in 2011.

* Groff was 2-for-3 on field goals, improving to 34-for-49 in his career at ESU. He set ESU's career record with his 13th from 40+ yards, breaking a tie with Ed Detwiler (1989-92), who holds the PSAC record with 50 career FG.
* Groff has made 5 FG from 48+ yards in his career at ESU. He is 13-for-23 overall from 40+ yards and 21-for-26 from under 40 yards.
* All three of Groff's 51+ yard FG (and 4 of his 5 from 48+) have come on the road. He became the first PSAC kicker with two from 51+ yards on Sept. 29 at Clarion, extending that to three at Bloomsburg. He also hit from 52 yards at Kutztown last year.
