Final - ESU 59, Lock Haven 56 (Recap  l  Box Score)

EAST STROUDSBURG – Senior forward Fayola Moise had the go-ahead putback with 1:13 left, then blocked a shot in the final 10 seconds as East Stroudsburg University posted a 59-56 win over Lock Haven in PSAC women's basketball on Tuesday night at Koehler Fieldhouse.

ESU (3-5, 2-2) scored the final seven points of the game after Emily Daugherty had a three-point play to put Lock Haven (2-5, 0-4) ahead 56-52 with 2:54 left.

Junior guard Andrea Veres, who led the Warriors with 12 points, hit a three-pointer on ESU's next possession to cut the deficit to one, and Moise grabbed a miss by sophomore forward Jessica Martina and laid it in to put the Warriors on top going into the final minute.

After both teams came up empty on their trips down the floor, Marrysa Moyer had an offensive rebound for Lock Haven with 10 seconds left but Moise blocked the putback attempt, secured the rebound and got the ball to sophomore guard Ryann Fiascki, an 88-percent career free throw shooter. Fiascki sank both with three seconds left and Kacie Hershey's halfcourt shot came up short.

Moise had five points and eight rebounds, Martin had 10 points and seven boards and freshman guard Helena Gemmell had eight points and seven rebounds to lead the Warriors. Fiascki and senior guard Barb Borst both added eight points for ESU, which survived a 26.7 percent (8-for-30) shooting mark in the second half after shooting 57.1 percent (12-for-21) in the first half.

THE MATCH-UP: East Stroudsburg University hosts Lock Haven to open a four-game homestand after returning from a four-game road trip, which culminated with a 56-53 (OT) loss at Philadelphia University on Saturday. The Warriors earned their first PSAC win of the year the previous Saturday, beating Cheyney 65-37. They end the fall semester Wednesday night vs. Clarion before getting back on the floor on January 4 vs. IUP.

LAST TIME OUT: Philadelphia U scored all six of its points in overtime from the free throw line, but it was enough to push the Rams past ESU in the Warriors' final non-conference game of the season.

Sr. F Fayola Moise had 10 points and 14 rebounds for her second career double-double as ESU led for the final 35 minutes of regulation until Philadelphia U tied it at 50-50 with a free throw with 1:05 left. Jr. G Andrea Veres scored 9 points, Fr. G Helena Gemmell had 7 points and 7 rebounds and Fr.
