BLOOMSBURG – Senior
Ryan Beck threw 3.2 innings of scoreless relief and East Stroudsburg University scored three runs in the eighth inning for a 7-4 win in the opener as the Warriors and Bloomsburg split a PSAC East baseball doubleheader on Friday afternoon.

Eric Boyer hit the go-ahead single in game one before Bloomsburg (17-15, 6-8) came back from a 3-1 deficit for a 4-3 win in the nightcap. ESU (19-12, 4-6) hosts the second half of the series on Saturday, Military Appreciation Day, at 1 p.m. at Mitterling Field.

Evan Gallagher and junior OF
Zac Menendez both tied personal milestones in the twinbill. Gallagher had two hits on the day, giving him 198 for his career, tied for third in school history with Brett Reynolds (1998-01). He is two hits from becoming the third player with 200 hits in program history.
Menendez had two stolen bases to match the single-season record of 24 shared by Reynolds (2001) and Scott Roth (2000). He also drew two walks in the opener and has 36 on the season, two from the record of 38 set by Joe Ragozino in 1989. Menendez finished Friday's action with a .508 on-base percentage in the leadoff spot.
In the opener, the Warriors put four runs on the board in the third after Bloomsburg took a 1-0 lead in the previous half inning. Senior 2B
Ryan Guarino was hit by a pitch for the 20th time in his career, Menendez walked and both had stolen bases before Gallagher delivered a two RBI double to put ESU in front. After freshman 3B
Robert Patete was hit by a pitch, junior
Brian Ernst – ESU's starting pitcher – plated Gallagher with a single and Boyer drove in Ernst with a base hit to make it 4-1.
Bloomsburg forced extra innings with a run in the fourth, on a base hit by Keith Meyer after a two-out triple by Aaron Russell, and two more in the fifth on a two-run single by Tim Kurucz.
Beck relieved Ernst (4.1 IP, 5 hits, 3 earned runs, 4 strikeouts, 3 walks) in the middle of the fifth and blanked the Huskies after they leveled the score at 4-4. He stranded the go-ahead run at third base in the sixth and retired the side in order in the seventh and eighth.
ESU cashed in on three Bloomsburg errors for three runs in the eighth. Gallagher reached on a leadoff error, Patete grounded into a fielders choice, Ernst walked and Boyer hit an RBI single to score pinch-runner

Chris Knott reached on a hard-hit ball to third to score Ernst and Boyer and make it 7-4.
Beck (3.2 IP, 2 hits, 3 strikeouts) struck out the side in the eighth – the No. 9, 1 and 2 hitters – to secure his first win of the season. He lowered his ERA to 2.50 in his 13th appearance and also has three saves.
Kyle Hunter completed the first 7.0 innings on the mound for Bloomsburg and gave up four hits, struck out three and walked two. Matt Kline pitched the eighth and gave up three runs, one earned, on a hit and a walk.
In the nightcap, ESU's 3-1 lead didn't stand up as the Huskies scored single runs in the fourth, fifth and sixth to come back.
The Warriors got a run in the second on an RBI single by sophomore C
Eric Forth and two more in the third after Bloomsburg tied it on a balk in the bottom half. Menendez had a bunt single, Gallagher walked and Menendez scored after the Huskies' catcher threw the ball away on a double steal. Ernst followed with an RBI single to plate Gallagher and make it 3-1.
Bloomsburg had nine base runners on six hits and three HBP, and moved up on four wild pitches, to rally over its last three at bats. Meyer had a two-out RBI single for the go-ahead run in the sixth.
Bryan Morris threw a complete game for Bloomsburg to earn the win, giving up six hits with five strikeouts and two walks.
Sophomore
Colin Taylor made his first career conference start for ESU, going 5.0 innings with seven hits, three strikeouts and no walks. Junior
Colin Kelly relieved Taylor after he pitched to one batter in the sixth.
