Ebewo placed third at 197 pounds at the NCAA Division II Championships, completing a 24-5 season that included a 17-2 record against Division II competition. He was the Super Region 1 champion and qualified for the NCAA Championships for the second straight season. He had 47 wins over the last two years and 78 wins overall as a four-year starter. He is the first wrestler to be named the Men's Athlete of the Year since Jeremy Sluyter in 2000.
Kaufman is the first tennis player to be named Women's Athlete of the Year since Carol Myers, a field hockey and tennis athlete, in 1975. She was named the PSAC East Athlete of the Year after going 14-6 overall, 12-2 this spring and 4-1 against divisional competition in her final year as a four-time All-PSAC East selection in singles. Kaufman posted 49 career wins, with 41 coming at No. 1 in dual action.
Johnson, the PSAC heptathlon and decathlon champion, likely extended his season into the NCAA Division II Championships after scoring a school-record 6,925 points in the decathlon on Thursday and Friday at the PSAC Championships. He is a Sociology major with a 3.82 grade-point average and was named to the PSAC Top 10 for academic and athletic achievement this winter.
Ordnung, a two-time All-PSAC goalkeeper in field hockey, was a starter on two NCAA Tournament teams for the Warriors. She is a Mathematics major with a 3.91 GPA and ranks fifth in school history in career saves and shutouts as a three-year starter.
ESU's letterwinners and seniors in attendance were recognized, along with the Coaches Award and team MVP recipients in the Warriors' 20 varsity sports.
President Dr. Robert J. Dillman was recognized for his 16 years of service at ESU and his contributions to the athletic department. Barry Krammes '04, a social studies teacher at East Stroudsburg South who was a two-time All-American in the javelin and is preparing for the U.S. Olympic Trials, was the keynote speaker.
