CALDWELL, N.J. – Dylan Ross scored his second goal of the game in the 84th minute to provide the game-winner for Caldwell in a 3-2 victory over East Stroudsburg University in non-conference men's soccer on Thursday afternoon.
ESU rallied from a 2-0 halftime deficit to pull even at 2-2, getting goals from senior forward
Nemanja Nikolic in the 62nd minute and senior midfielder
Nick Fischer in the 64th minute. Nikolic's was assisted by sophomore midfielder
Denis Loboda and Fischer's came from the penalty spot.
Ross's goal, with Caldwell down to 10 men after a red card following Fischer's goal, gave the Cougars (1-4-1) their first win of the season. He also scored in the 28th minute and Kris Olsen-Barr made it 2-0 with a goal just 1:50 before halftime.
ESU (1-6) held a 13-8 advantage in shots and has held the edge in six of its seven games this season. The Warriors had margins of 10-3 in shots and 5-0 in corner kicks in the second half.
Brian Agostini had four saves for Caldwell and freshman
Callum Hampson had one save for ESU.
The Warriors continue their non-conference schedule next week, traveling to Philadelphia University on Wednesday and hosting Seton Hill on Sunday, Sept. 30.
