EAST STROUDSBURG – Senior midfielder
Nick Fischer scored East Stroudsburg University's first goal and assisted on the second, and the Warriors went on to a commanding 7-0 shutout of Seton Hill in non-conference men's soccer on Sunday afternoon at Eiler-Martin Stadium.
Fischer scored in the 13th minute, assisted by junior forward
Marc DeFeo, and set up a goal by sophomore forward
Wesley Fossile in the 37th minute. Fischer's goal was his fifth of the season and the 10th of his career in two years.
Redshirt senior forward
Greg Schook scored his first goal of the year, and 12th of his career, on an assist from junior midfielder
Andrew Cerda in the 42nd minute to give ESU a 3-0 halftime lead.
After a lightning delay of just under an hour early in the second half, the Warriors (3-6) struck twice in the next 12 minutes to take a 5-0 lead.
Senior forward
Nemanja Nikolic scored in the 54th minute, his second of the season, and Nikolic and junior midfielder
Matthew Geidner assisted on the first of two goals by freshman forward
Jonathan Stuppe in the 59th minute.
Stuppe added his second goal in the 86th minute, and a Seton Hill (1-9) own goal in the 89th minute completed the scoring. Stuppe scored the first two goals of his career.
Freshman
Callum Hampson (2 saves in 59:40) and junior
Ryan Nosti (2, 30:20) combined on ESU's second straight shutout and third of the season. The Warriors were coming off a 2-0 win at previously unbeaten Philadelphia University on Wednesday.
The Warriors' seven goals are their most since a 7-0 win over UDC in 2009. Seton Hill, currently a member of the WVIAC, joins the PSAC as a full member in 2013-14.
ESU nearly doubled its season total of eight goals entering the game. The Warriors opened 1-6 before their last two wins, but have outshot all but two of their first nine opponents.
The Warriors finished a three-game swing against non-conference opponents and have six straight PSAC games coming up. They are at Lock Haven on Wednesday at 4 p.m. and host Slippery Rock on Saturday at 8:30 p.m.
