PSAC release
EAST STROUDSBURG – East Stroudsburg University junior men's soccer player
Khriswayne Wallace has been named to the PSAC Top 10 for athletic and academic achievement for the Fall 2012 sports season, the conference announced Tuesday.
Wallace (Westmoreland, Jamaica/Munro College), a Business Management major with a 3.92 grade-point average, was named to the Capital One Academic All-America second team this fall.
He started 14 games at center back for the Warriors in his third season as a starter. He is a two-time Academic All-District selection, two-time All-PSAC first team and two-time All-Region player. He was named to the Daktronics All-Region team as a freshman in 2010 and NSCAA All-Region team as a sophomore in 2011.
This marks the fifth consecutive Top 10 list with at least one student-athlete from ESU, the longest current streak in the PSAC. The Warriors have had a representative on 11 of the last 12 PSAC Top 10 lists.
Wallace started all 20 games on ESU's 2010 PSAC runner-up team. He has started 47 games at center back over his three seasons while missing seven due to injury, including three last year.
He is the third ESU men's soccer player to be named to the PSAC Top 10, along with Kamar Samuels in 2001 and 2003, and Sean Stewart in 2002.
The PSAC Top 10 program recognizes outstanding student-athletes with at least a 3.50 cumulative grade-point average who are starters or significant contributors for their team.
All of the student-athletes selected in the fall, winter and spring seasons will be placed on the ballot for the PSAC Pete Nevins Scholar-Athlete of the Year Award, which is presented to one male and one female athlete at the conclusion of the academic year.
This year's Fall Top 10 includes 10 student-athletes from nine schools.
The other four members of the men's Top 10 list are soccer players Robbie Bennett (Gannon) and Bryce Shaffer (Bloomsburg), and football players Anthony DiPasquale (IUP) and Anthony Vendemia (Mercyhurst).
The women's team is comprised of volleyball players Meghan Franz (California) and Hannah Heeter (Clarion), field hockey player Kristyn Grunza (Mansfield), soccer player Mary Reilly (Gannon) and cross country athlete Kara Styles (Slippery Rock).
ESU has had 12 student-athletes, including Wallace, combine for 20 Top 10 honors in the last five years (since the start of the 2007-08 season).
The Warriors have had 29 student-athletes earn a total of 43 honors, tied for second-most in the 16-school conference, since the PSAC's sports information directors began selecting the lists in 1997-98.
