EAST STROUDSBURG – Senior forward Terrance King had 18 points and 12 rebounds and East Stroudsburg University ended the game on a 16-5 run, improving to 6-1 in the PSAC with a 70-62 win over California (Pa.) on Saturday night at Koehler Fieldhouse.

King was 8-for-11 and had two steals and two blocks while recording his third double-double of the season and 13th of his career.

Senior forward Gerald Bridges had 14 points, two off his career-high, and tied his career-best with four three-pointers as the Warriors (9-2 overall) won their third straight game and seventh of eight overall. They were coming off a 57-55 win over No. 16-ranked IUP on Friday night.

ESU, the defending PSAC champion, trailed 57-54 with less than five minutes left after a 12-0 run by California (5-6, 4-3), but King had six points down the stretch and Bridges hit a key three-pointer to increase the lead to 61-57 with just over two minutes to play.

King's putback with 4:11 remaining ended a scoreless stretch of more than seven minutes and got ESU within 57-56. Sophomore guard Whis Grant (nine points), who scored 12 second-half points the win over IUP, hit two free throws with 3:30 left to give ESU a lead it would never relinquish.

Bridges drilled his fourth three of the game with 2:21 left, King knocked down two free throws with just over a minute remaining to cap a 7-0 run, and King had another putback as the clock ran under a minute to give ESU a 65-58 advantage.

Sophomore guard Matt Tobin made 3-of-4 at the line as the Warriors took a nine-point edge (68-59), and King had his second block of the game on a three-pointer by Jake Jacubec to seal the victory.

There were six ties and 12 lead changes in a fast-paced first half as ESU took a 38-34 lead into the locker room. Cal led 22-16 before the Warriors scored eight straight, and eventually opened a 36-28 lead until the Vulcans closed the margin.

The Warriors maintained their advantage, which they gained with six minutes left in the first half, until the five-minute mark of the second half. It was 54-45 after the third three-pointer of the game by Bridges at the 11:38 mark, but Cal responded with a 12-0 surge over the next seven minutes to go ahead on a bucket by Tynell Fortune.

Fortune led Cal with 17 points and seven assists, Quentin Harding had 12 points and seven rebounds and Mitchell Weeden had 11 points, five rebounds, four assists and four steals.

The Warriors had two double-figure scorers in King (18) and Bridges (14), followed by Grant with nine, a career-high eight points from freshman guard Malcolm Richardson and seven points and four assists from Tobin.

The Warriors overcame a 51.0 percent (25-for-49) shooting night by Cal by forcing 24 turnovers while giving it up only 18 times. They had a 32-17 advantage in points off turnovers after entering the night leading the PSAC in turnover margin at +4.7.

ESU also had a 36-30 edge on the glass led by King's 12 boards and eight rebounds (five offensive) by senior forward Duane Johnson, who scored six points. The Warriors had 13 offensive rebounds and earned a 17-3 edge in second-chance points.
