CALIFORNIA - Sophomore back Otavio Caproni scored his first career goal in the 87th minute but East Stroudsburg University fell at California, 2-1, in PSAC men's soccer on Saturday.

Christopher Karns scored in the 28th minute and Anthony DiFrancesco followed in the 31st minute for California (6-9-1, 3-5-1), which remains in contention for the PSAC's final playoff spot.

Sophomore goalkeeper Callum Hampson had three saves for ESU (2-11-2, 1-8), and Alex Heston made five saves for the Vulcans.

Both teams had 13 shots with ESU holding a 9-5 advantage in the second half. ESU had an 8-6 advantage in corner kicks (5-0 in the second half).

Caproni has played in six games and made five starts in the second half of the season for ESU. He is the seventh Warrior to score a goal this season.

ESU hosts Lock Haven on Wednesday at 7 p.m. before finishing the season at Bloomsburg next Saturday.
