EAST STROUDSBURG - Junior
Ryan Lubreski fired a four-hit shutout in game two as East Stroudsburg University split a doubleheader with No. 9-ranked Shippensburg in the PSAC East opener for both schools on Friday afternoon at Mitterling Field.
The Warriors scored all of their runs from the fourth inning on in a 7-0 victory in the nightcap. Shippensburg (14-5, 1-1) used a five-run fourth as the impetus for a 6-2 win in the opener.
Lubreski (2-0) threw his second straight complete game after beating Dowling, 5-2, last Friday. He struck out five, walked two and stranded five runners on base - including leaving the bases loaded in the first inning.
The Warriors (7-4, 1-1) had 13 hits from eight starters in game two, led by senior OF

Lubreski and Shippensburg starter Pat Kregeloh (4-2) matched zeroes through the first three innings before ESU broke through with two runs off Kregeloh in the fourth. Boyer singled and scored on an RBI double by junior 1B
Mike Tenaglia to open the inning. Tenaglia moved to third on a groundout and scored on a sacrifice fly by junior catcher
Eric Forth.
The Warriors knocked Kregeloh from the game in the fifth, plating three runs on a walk and four straight hits. Senior 2B
Joe Bennie drew a one-out walk, followed by a base hit by Boyer, an RBI double by Tenaglia and RBI singles by junior OF
Chris Knott and Forth to make it 5-0.
Lubreski pitched around a leadoff single in the sixth by starting a double play to end the inning, and the Warriors stretched it to 7-0 with two more runs in the bottom half. Boyer hit a two-run single after redshirt freshman 3B
Drew Hercik singled and Bennie doubled.
Lubreski retired the side in order in the seventh to seal his first shutout at ESU. A transfer from UMass and graduate of Blair Academy (NJ), Lubreski pitched in nine games for the Minutemen as a sophomore before joining the Warriors.
In the opener, senior right-hander
Colin Kelly was effective over the first 3.0 innings, striking out six and walking two while allowing a first-inning run. He left the game due to a minor injury to start the fourth and Shippensburg scored five runs on six hits off two ESU pitchers.
The Warriors took a 2-1 lead in the third before Shippensburg went ahead. Boyer hit a two-out, two-run single that scored freshman OF
John Armbrust, who had a leadoff single, and Bennie, who walked and scored from first on Boyer's base hit. Boyer was 3-for-3 and Armbrust was 2-for-3.
Shippensburg's Tom Bush improved to 4-0 with a complete game effort, allowing two runs on six hits with six strikeouts and three walks.
ESU sent four relievers to the mound after Kelly. Junior
Jake Ruch (1.1), redshirt sophomore
Max Mueller (1.0) and freshman
Brandon Holup (1.0) all worked scoreless innings.
The Warriors hit .373 (19-for-51) in the twinbill led by Boyer (6-for-6), junior 1B
