EAST STROUDSBURG – Rising redshirt sophomore quarterback
Matt Soltes threw three touchdown passes in four series with the first-team offense as East Stroudsburg University finished its spring practice schedule with its annual Saturday evening scrimmage, held tonight at Eiler-Martin Stadium.
Soltes, the reigning PSAC East Freshman of the year, threw touchdowns of 45 yards to sophomore
Brandon Mercer, 12 yards to senior
Dusty Reed and 25 yards to redshirt sophomore
Jon Schnaars to complete his work for the day. He also had a pair of big runs, a 17-yard scramble before the first TD and a 29-yarder to set up his TD pass to Reed.
Soltes was the fourth quarterback in PSAC history and first non-senior to throw for 2,500 yards and rush for 500 yards last season, throwing for 2,622 yards and 21 TD and running for 536 yards and two scores. He led DII freshmen in total offense (315.8 yards per game) and pass efficiency (157.2) last fall.
The Warriors' defense came away with three interceptions, by freshman safety
Dean Vitale, sophomore corner Rashard Scott and sophomore corner
Teron Dobbs. They also produced two fumble recoveries.

The Warriors, 5-5 overall and 4-3 in the PSAC East last year, enter their 40th season under head coach
Denny Douds next fall. They open the season against American International on Thursday, September 5 at 6:05 p.m. at Eiler-Martin Stadium.
