MILLERSVILLE - Senior Corinne Fitzgerald was third in the women's 10,000m run with a five-second PR of 36:43.36 to pace East Stroudsburg University's competitors on the first day of the PSAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Thursday at Millersville.

Fitzgerald will defend her PSAC title in the 3000m steeplechase on Saturday afternoon, where she is the top seed with a school record of 10:37.95. She had her seventh career individual scoring performance in a PSAC championship meet and reprised her third-place finish at last year's outdoor championship.

Her time of 36:43.36 is just under the NCAA Division II provisional standard and is her third provisional qualifying mark this year. She is also on the list in the 3000m steeplechase (10:37.93) and the 5000m (17:16.06).

The first half of the multis were held on Thursday as well, with ESU athletes third and sixth in the women's heptathlon and third in the men's decathlon.

In the heptathlon, senior Aniyah Williams is third with 2,699 points, 58 behind leader Alyssa Wheary of Lock Haven and three behind second-place Kristen Belko of Clarion.

Junior Theresa Horn is 55 points behind Williams in sixth place with 2,644 points. Horn was fourth and Williams was eighth in the pentathlon at the indoor championships, and Horn was third in the heptathlon a year ago.

For the men, senior Andrew Sloves is third in the decathlon through the five events going into Friday. He was seventh in the heptathlon during the indoor season. Sloves has 3,248 points, one ahead of Lock Haven's Jordan Stonebraker, as the field chases Shippensburg's Austin Strine (3,386) and Slippery Rock's Andrew Greenslade (3,375). Freshman Eric Conard is 11th with 2,839 points.

The PSAC Championships continue Friday and conclude Saturday at Millersville.
